United Way of Tampa Bay’s Day of Caring received news coverage on both sides of the bay last month. Fox 13, Channel 10 News, ABC Action News and the St. Petersburg Times’ tampabay.com covered the volunteers from Allstate who painted interior rooms at Brookwood. The Weekly Challenger and the St. Pete Bulletin Newspaper both ran articles on the volunteers who converged on the Happy Workers Children’s Center in St. Petersburg. Volunteers from Tech Data, Valpak, and Coordinated Child Care cleaned up the buildings and playground, painted, organizing projects and picture hanging. The Tampa Tribune ran an article and photo on the volunteers from PCL and the Tampa FBI office who built a rappel tower and observation deck and cleaned at Camp Brorein, a Cub and Boy Scout camp in Keystone
Nancy Lamagna takes a break to smile for the camera. She was part of a group from the City of Clearwater who painted the Willa Carson Health and Wellness Center during the Day of Caring. The photo won the most votes on United Way of Tampa Bay’s Facebook page. Lisa Perkins was the winning photographer and won a visit from the Tampa Bay Lightning for the City of Clearwater. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who submitted photos.
